Version 1.0 Debrief — Pack Sales, Updated Roadmap, and The Railroader Emporium
Hey Railroaders! It feels good to be writing a new article. The purpose of this article is to quickly recap the mechanics introduced in the V1 release, cover the upcoming features, go into detail on the next pack sale, and take a peek at the newest mechanic to be introduced to the Centuryverse.
Version 1.0 introduced several new mechanics into the Centuryverse, further laying the foundation for a long term project.
Version 1.0 Mechanics
- NPC Asset Encounters
- Story Mode Encounters
- All Composition Upgrades
- Golden Runs
- Dynamic Station Rates
- Multiple Trains
In addition to an extensive Wiki, marketing efforts were increased following the V1 release through banner ads, collaborations, onboarding campaigns, and scheduled social media campaigns. These ongoing efforts have shown promising results — a 45% increase in daily players from March 15 to April 15.
We experienced much growth in the last month, not only in the player base but also in the development team. We’ve never been as efficient as we are now and, as a result, are optimistic about the timeframes for the features discussed later in this article.
Upcoming Sales
It’s time for some more choo-choo trains. If you refer back to some of our older articles, you’ll see we take asset allocation seriously. There are hard caps on all the assets’ mint-able numbers, and last year’s sales were only half of the Modern Century’s maximum mint-able assets. The remaining assets will be sold through incremental pack drops as the player base increases. The first of which will occur on April 30th.
Introducing the Version 1.0 Slack and Max Packs.
Version 1’s new mechanics brought an opportunity for a new type of pack. We’re not yet ready to ditch the “slack” and “max” naming convention, but we are adding a new type of card that can be redeemed in-game for fungible items.
Redeemables
Redeemables are NFTs included in the V1 Packs whose purpose is to provide a Railroader with everything they need in one pack. The Slack Packs will contain a Fuel NFT (diesel only) with varying amounts decided by the pack odds. In addition to a Fuel Redeemable, The Max Packs contain a Century Vial Redeemable.
Wait, I thought Century Vials were Fungible Tokens?
They are — well, the ones you can utilize in-game are. The Century Vial NFTs and the Fuel NFTs can only be used in-game once redeemed from the Railroader’s Inventory Tab in the Railroader Dash. This feature will be live by the time the packs drop.
For the uninitiated, Century Vials and the Anomatic Particles contained within are used for several in-game mechanics; they‘re also able to be listed for sale in the Railroader Emporium.
Century Vial Use Cases:
- Century Train Part Fusion to Locomotives
- Composition Upgrades on Legendary and Mythic Locomotives
- P2P Marketplace listing (more on this below)
- Soon to be released mechanics like Instant Transmission.
We think including these redeemable NFTs will be a great addition to the Choo Choo packs we’ve come to love… and hate from rough rarity odds.
Yes, there’s nothing worse than opening a pack and pulling all commons. For this reason, we’ve adjusted the V1 Pack odds.
Whitelist Criteria
As always, whitelisting criteria is challenging. We kept it relatively simple this time, and we hope it accommodates both seasoned and new Railroaders alike.
The following accounts will be whitelisted and be able to participate in the drop beginning at 12 PM EDT on April 30th.

New Feature — Player to Player Marketplace
Introducing the Railroader Emporium:
Released on April 22nd, the P2P marketplace brings another level of agency to the fungible items players come across from the in-game NPC Encounters. All Emporium dealings are in Tocium, with each transaction incurring a 2% fee, sent to the Century Treasury. This treasury is a component of Economy 2.0 and will benefit Station Owners in the form of Tocium distributions. The details of this are not fully hashed out yet but will be disclosed as decisions are made.
Thank you for your continued support of Train of the Century. We’ll See you on the rails!
